      <image:title>Gallery - BELLA MAR (2023)</image:title>
<image:caption>I created this painting in the Summer of 2023. Inspired by tropical climates, this painting of sea grapes which grow marvelously by the sea shore, bring me back to my South Florida roots. This image calls to mind salty air and fond beach memories, which always bring a smile to my face. It is only fitting, then, that this image be committed to fundraising efforts for a non-profit organization called Support Our Smiles. Support our Smiles is a team of dedicated volunteer ENT surgeons, plastic surgeons, nurse anesthetists, nurse practitioners, and project managers that bring life-altering care to children and young adults with cleft palate deformities in under-resourced areas, namely Peru. This image is dedicated to supporting global health efforts through Support our Smiles through print sales at fundraising events in South Florida.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Gallery - RED DRESS (2022)</image:title>
<image:caption>I painted this image during the Fall of 2022 as a fundraising effort for the American Heart Association, which invests in research funding and health advocacy for cardiovascular disease. Every year, the Washington University School of Medicine community hosts an event called ‘Red Dress’ to raise funds for this worthy cause. Attendees unanimously wear red attire, and the special evening has a red flare to every detail. During the event, I live-painted this painting while surrounded by, and inspired by, the red ensembles of my classmates in attendance. I set up my easel next to the auction table, and painted away. By the end of the evening, this painting was successfully auctioned off to the highest bidder, with all funds generated directed to the American Heart Association.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The Tree is dedicated to the Briny Breezes Bazaar for the 2024 season. Briny Breezes is a mobile home park in South Florida that hosts an incredible bazaar each year to support many of the common areas in the park to benefit the Briny residents and their surrounding community. Briny residents exhibit such a spirit of volunteerism, community pride and camaraderie as their bazaar is made up of community donations and curious crafts created by the residents themselves. I have donated to Briny’s Bazaar in the past and am excited to continue to support their efforts to beautify their space and provide for improvements that their community may need. The bazaar is always a big success, and I am happy to participate!</image:caption>

      <image:title>Gallery - VANDERBILT CAMPUS (2020)</image:title>
<image:caption>I created this image in the Spring of 2020, my last semester as a Vanderbilt student. This was the view from my dormitory window, and I felt compelled to capture the spirit of the beloved campus. In the Summer of 2020, during the quarantine, I decided to use this image in a fundraising effort for my favorite student group on campus, the Next Steps Program. Next Steps at Vanderbilt is a four year certificate program for college aged students with intellectual disabilities to learn, work, connect, and thrive at Vanderbilt University. They navigate this program with support from their Ambassadors who regularly study, hang out, grab lunch, or hit the gym with students in the Next Steps program. These friendships and experiences are some of the most valuable I had at Vanderbilt. I had the honor of serving as the president of the Ambassador organization my senior year, and wanted to give back to a program that had given so much to me. I created notecards out of this image, and packaged and sold them across the Vanderbilt community, raising hundreds of dollars for the Next Steps program.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Gallery - CLARA'S COVE (2019)</image:title>
<image:caption>I created this image in the Summer of 2018 inspired by my memories of fishing at the beach with my brothers in the South Florida sun. My brothers and I are all quite close. My oldest brother, Francis, depicted on the right, has special needs and is a client at ARC Broward. ARC Broward offers a continuum of quality day services to adults with developmental disabilities. ARC believes that everyone should have the opportunity to live the most fulfilling, social and active life possible. A print of this painting is committed to donation for an annual fundraising event, the 2023 Miss ARC Broward Beauty Pageant, a fun-filled event celebrating young women and girls with intellectual disabilities.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Gallery - EPIGENETICS (2018)</image:title>
<image:caption>This painting was inspired by important concepts in neurobiology, my research focus as an undergraduate student. It highlights the concept of epigenetics. DNA functions like an instruction manual for cells. Certain processes, such as changes in DNA methylation patterns or exchanging proteins called histones for histone variants, can “turn on” or “turn off” different portions of DNA, which allows the cell to express a specific cast of genes. Evidence supports that epigenetics also explains why adult nervous cells can build and maintain memories. In this piece, three light-bulbs hang from strands of DNA pouring out of a person’s brain. These light-bulbs, which signify epigenetic marks, can be turned on or off by biochemical processes such as methylation or chromatin structure modification. As gene expression is altered, physiology and function is also altered, engendering enduring changes that enable the brain to pick up and maintain learned information. The face of the subject is thoughtful, as though learning or remembering something. The orientation of gravity for the lightbulbs is upside down, as if belonging to an unfamiliar world--the molecular world. This piece is a tribute to the physical, underlying process quietly at work between our ears as we learn, experience, grow, and remember. I created this image through a program at Vanderbilt that I helped to develop, called ArtLab. To learn more about ArtLab, please navigate to the ArtLab tab on this website.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Gallery - DANCERS GOSSIPPING (2018)</image:title>
<image:caption>I created this image during the Fall of 2018 as a fundraising effort for Begin Anew, a Nashville-based nonprofit program that helps individuals to overcome poverty through GED and ESL classes, as well as one-on-one mentoring and job coaching. This image is special to me because I painted it live during a charity gala hosted by the Vanderbilt University chapter of AKPsi, a business fraternity for members committed to key corporate and civic leadership roles after graduation. While attendees danced the night away, I painted two ballet dancers in an elegant repose. I set up my easel and painted for the few hours as the event was ongoing. By the end of the night, the painting was successfully auctioned off to the highest bidder in a charitable spirit, with all funds generated going to support clients of Begin Anew’s tutoring and mentorship programs.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Gallery - ON MY WAY (2015)</image:title>
<image:caption>Inspired by my personal journey with scoliosis. This painting was auctioned at the Harms Study Group Gala. HSG is an international cohort of pediatric spine surgeons who develop cutting-edge treatment for scoliosis. My surgeon invited me to give a patient testimonial and donate a painting to the gala, hosted in Las Vegas. In this drawing, the girl symbolizes a scoliosis patient. Her scarred back and disproportionate body are like mine. The bridge symbolizes the surgery, whose hardware entails two metal rods with screws to secure them into the spine. The bridge is blood-red because spinal fusions are particularly bloody operations. Her dress, however, is green because she is still growing: physically and mentally. Trees indicate spinal health. The trees around the bridge are jagged, crooked, and dangerous. The trees beyond the bridge, however, are tall, straight, and flowery. The bridge (surgery) helps the girl travel safely from poor health to good health.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Gallery - WITHIN MY REACH (2014)</image:title>
<image:caption>Inspired by the story of Blair Chapin, a young girl from the Orlando area who has an extremely rare orphan disease called Sanfilippo Syndrome. Blair's mother reached out to me to participate in fundraising efforts for this disease. I traveled to Orlando to meet the Chapin family and gain inspiration for the painting. Blair is an extremely sweet and vibrant girl with a profound developmental delay due to her degenerative condition. Her family has coined the phrase "purple lemonade" to spearhead fundraising efforts. Blair's team uses lemonade festivals, as well many other platforms, to raise awareness and hope for a cure to this disease. The image I came up with is of Blair's likeness picking lemons from a lit up tree. The image was made into Christmas cards, prints, banners, and signs to raise funds to advance the research efforts of the Sanfilippo Research Foundation. Partnering with the Chapins was an amazing experience, and I wish Blair the best as she battles SFS.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Gallery - FULL BLOOM (2014)</image:title>
<image:caption>Inspired by the story of Debra Zelman, a proud stomach cancer patient, lawyer, wife, mother of three, and founder of Debbie's Dream Can't Stomach Cancer. Debbie founded the organization and took it national. Before Debbie's efforts, stomach cancer was the least funded cancer for the amount of lives it claimed, having the smallest dollar to death ratio of all. This is no longer the case, thanks to the generosity that Debbie's Dream helps inspire. While hospitalized for grueling chemo treatment, a royal poinciana bloomed courageously outside her hospital window. This tree became a source of inspiration for Debbie to continue fighting her cancer, no matter how bleak things seemed. The symbol of this special tree, alive with fiery blossoms, inspired this painting. Its bold and triumphant aura echos Debbie's. My hope is that it serves as a reminder to hope, fight, and persevere. The original painting was unveiled and auctioned at the 2015 Dream Maker's Gala. Unfortunately, since the creation of this image, Debra sadly passed away from her disease, but not without leaving an important legacy.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Gallery - THIS ONE (2014)</image:title>
<image:caption>Inspired by the mission of Women in Distress, a full-service domestic violence center working to end domestic violence. This painting was unveiled at the Starfish luncheon, an event that stems from the "starfish story." The story is as follows: a girl and her grandmother were walking down the beach. The tide had pulled back leaving hundreds of starfish stranded on the sand. The little girl began picking up starfish and throwing them back into the sea. Her grandmother said, "Why do you run about? You can't possibly save them all." The girl stopped, looked at the starfish in her hand and said "Maybe not, but I can make a difference to This One." Women In Distress understands they cannot stop all domestic violence situations, but they have truly made a difference to the families they do shelter. This painting hangs in the shelter. Her posture suggests both fear and conviction, and her eyes are the same color as the sea, two important elements inspired by the starfish story.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Inspired by the charity efforts of the Miami Heat, the South Florida NBA Basketball team whose main charitable focus is outreach to children. The Miami Heat offered to donate $7500 to the charity of my choice in exchange for this fun and playful painting. I selected the Cystic Fibrosis Gold Coast Guild in honor of CF patient Andrea Lucas who has sadly passed away at only 17. It is an especially heinous disease. The Lucas family and I, accompanied by retired basketball player Alonzo Mourning, participated in a special on-court ceremony at a Miami Heat playoff game to unveil the painting and present the big check. The painting is currently hanging in the arena in the Kia center. The Miami Heat partners with Kia to honor someone who carries out random acts of kindness with an award called Random Act of Heat. They decided to honor me. This innocent and energetic painting commemorates this interesting and once-in-a-lifetime experience.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Inspired by the Humane Society, an organization working to give homeless animals a second chance. My own house pup is a humane society rescue, so I'm especially glad for the work they do. This painting highlights the human to animal connection in a sweetly innocent and peaceful way. The two figures are made of the same color pallet. The warm golden hair shines on both the girl and the dog. Her pink and purple hair clip and dress are the same color as the dog's tongue. These mutual colors are a subtle way to express their innate connection.</image:caption>

<image:caption>This image was created for the 2013 Meg Segreto’s Dance Center recital and is entitled “Made in America” The image is a tribute to both the free expression enjoyed by the disciplined ballerina and the ideals of freedom and liberty upon which America was founded. The show that evening celebrated America through dance and song and this image captures that patriotic theme. A giclee of the original will be auctioned at the PMDC 2014 Holiday Show and the proceeds will go to benefit Daniela’s Dream at Joe DiMaggio’s Children’s hospital. This will be the third year that ArtbyEve has been given the opportunity to help Meg Segreto’s Dance company raise funds for Daniela’s Dream. <image:caption>Inspired by connections to the ALS Foundation. My older brother Oliver was a brother in the bond of fraternity Phi Delta Theta. As an active member of the brotherhood, he helped coordinate philanthropy efforts. Phi Delta Theta works to raise money for the ALS Foundation because Lou Gehrig, the baseball great and victim of ALS, was a Phi Delta Theta member in college. This owl, poised and stoic, is the symbol bird for this particular fraternity. The drawing was auctioned at a philanthropy event in which alumni gathered to raise funds for the ALS Foundation. A signed giclee of this same image was later donated in 2022 to fundraise for Emmaus Homes, a group home service in Eastern Missouri that supports adults with intellectual disability to live independently.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Gallery - YOU CAN'T STOP THE BEAT (2012)</image:title>
<image:caption>I created this image for Meg Segreto’s Dance Centre. This lively dancer in a red dress helped to promote t-shirt and program sales that raise money for the dance scholarship program at the studio. As an artist, dancer, and pianist, the arts are very important to me. I intended to show the fun and expressive nature of dance and to promote the arts within the community. The framed giclee print was raffled off at the following December's Holiday show to benefit Joe Dimaggio’s Children’s Hospital through Daniella’s Journey once again.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Gallery - KNOWLEDGE IS POWER (2011)</image:title>
<image:caption>Inspired by the mission of FORCE—Facing our Risk of Cancer Empowered—a national nonprofit organization dedicated to education, advocacy, and awareness of breast and ovarian cancer. This organization works to give information primarily to people who are at risk of breast and/or ovarian cancer and genetically related cancers. These women and men face their risk of cancer empowered by the knowledge FORCE spreads. In this image, the wind is a force moving dandelion seedlings directly to the viewer as if we can reach out and grab them. The pink shirt and teal sky represent the colors of breast and ovarian cancer, respectively. This image was used as prints, cards, mugs, t-shirts, phone cases, and other innovative ways to raise both funds and awareness for FORCE.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Gallery - THE GIFT OF LIFE (2011)</image:title>
<image:caption>I created this image for the 2011 JakeandHisFight holiday card series to benefit Jake who was still battling leukemia. During this time, Jake and his family were extremely hopeful because Jake’s health was improving and the end of his treatment was drawing near. I intended for this image to demonstrate the joy of an innocent child receiving a Christmas gift. The light exuding from the box and illuminating Jake’s face represents the gift of good health that Jake is fortunate to have. Jake would complete treatment the next year in 2012 after a rigorous, 4-year-long struggle with leukemia.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Gallery - HOPE (2011)</image:title>
<image:caption>I created this image for Food for the Poor, an organization that works to improve the conditions for individuals experiencing poverty around the world. This image commemorated the 2nd anniversary of the Haiti Earthquake and has been used by other organizations in addition to Food for the Poor to support their efforts, like For Jamaica Inc. and the Florida Medical Association. I intended to convey the victim’s need for support. The child in the image is looking to the viewer for help. The image has moved people to contribute, selling for over one thousand dollars at a Food for the Poor event. Other giclees as well as greeting cards of this image have been sold to advance Food for the Poor's cause.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Meg Segretto’s Dance Studio stages a yearly dance showcase to benefit Joe Dimaggio’s Children’sHospital through an organization called Daniella’s Dream. Daniella is a former dancer at Meg’s Segretto’s Dance Studio who unfortunately passed away due to cancer. She underwent treatment at Joe Dimaggio’s Children’s Hospital, and her family established a foundation in her honor to fundraise for the hospital. My former dance studio community is heavily involved in fundraising efforts directed at Joe Dimaggio’s. I created this image to express the versatility and beauty of the dancer. The image is of a ballerina on pointe but when viewed upside down the image is of a magnificent calla lily. I aimed to inspire dancers in my dance studio community and bring a message of hope and strength to the fundraiser.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Gallery - DEBBIE'S DREAM (2010)</image:title>
<image:caption>I created this image for Debbie Zelman Gutman’s Can’t Stomach Cancer foundation. Debbie Zelman was a professional woman, wife, and mother who was diagnosed with incurable stomach cancer. She founded an organization to help raise money for much needed research to find a cure for Stomach Cancer and to raise awareness of this terrible disease. The tree in the image is a Royal Poinciana, a beautiful tree that bloomed outside of Debbie’s window as she endured her first round of chemotherapy. This beautiful tree inspired Debbie and became the Logo of Debbie’s Dream, the parent organization of Can’t Stomach Cancer foundation. I intended for this image to show Debbie’s courage as she faced this daunting disease. Unfortunately, since the creation of this image, Debra Zelman sadly passed away from her disease, but not without leaving an important legacy.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I created this image for the Florida Opportunity Scholarship Fund at the age of 11. The University of Florida was hosting an art contest. The image selected would be used on all promotional materials for the annual Hispanic Alumni event, The Gator Guayabera Guateque. The GGG raises money for the Opportunity Scholarship fund at the University of Florida which benefits many minority and first generation to attend college students in the state of Florida. I intended to convey the joyfulness of the event and the spirit of the Gator Nation. It is interesting to note that 2010 was the first year that Alberta Gator was highlighted in the promotional materials for this event.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Gallery - THE GIFT (2010)</image:title>
<image:caption>The Gift was created for Jake and His Fight in the early days of diagnosis and treatment for his childhood Leukemia. Our Catholic school community was hoping and praying for the best for Jake and his family. This image was intended to depict so many prayers and well wishes for the gift of recovery to come to Jake. He was so young and fragile at this time that he inspired me to create the image you see here. This image was the actual launching of ArtbtEve. It spoke to so many people in different ways that charitable organizations began to request similarly inspired pieces for their causes. Through this process, I learned to listen to their stories and reflect through my art the messages they were wishing to share. It was a great learning experience for me as a child. An opportunity to listen, interpret and then create was priceless for me, and I am grateful for the opportunity.</image:caption>
